Honor Magic V Flip 2 Jimmy Choo Edition Review: my friend's wedding!
House of Tech
Introduction
Welcome everyone to the wedding ceremony in Naintic! I'm shooting this on the Honor Magic V Flip 2, the new Jimmy Choo-branded flip phone from Honor. Currently, it's available only in China, but it was announced today, and we hope it will come to global markets soon. This phone is really interesting, so stay tuned for more throughout this video.
Camera Samples
"This is the first flip phone with a 200MP camera!"
How does the battery last? What's the camera like? And what sets it apart from the Samsung or Motorola models? Let's find out as I capture my best friend's wedding!
Battery Life Check-In
It's 11:00 a.m., and the battery is at 100%. Let's do this! I love that you can switch between camera lenses while filming. However, unlike Samsung, you can't switch between the front and rear cameras. I’ll include some pictures shortly.
After four hours, the battery is down by 10%. I had about an hour and 15 minutes of screen time, mostly using the camera. Overall, the battery life so far is not bad, and I'm pretty impressed with the camera quality.
Ready for the Wedding!
Now, I'm shooting using the cover screen preview on the front-facing camera with the phone fully open. This feature is really well implemented, taking up about 60% of the screen. So far, I'm impressed with how Honor has designed the cover screen. However, not all apps are optimized for it, which is something to keep in mind.
Wedding Ceremony Highlights
We’ve made it to the wedding venue, and it’s one of the most picturesque places I’ve ever seen. The ceremony was beautiful—short, sweet, and multilingual. I filmed a lot with the Honor Magic V Flip 2, and everyone commented on the camcorder mode. It’s incredible how it engages people when they can see themselves on the front screen.
Post-Wedding Thoughts
"The footage was excellent, and I was very impressed with the V2 Flip while at my friend's wedding."
After the wedding, I returned to my hotel and reflected on the day. I filmed so much, and the camcorder mode really stood out. It’s fascinating how people react when they can see themselves on the screen.
Battery Life and Performance
At 3:00 a.m., after 16 hours of use, the battery is at 45%. I’ve done a lot of filming, and I’m impressed with the battery life overall. The next morning, after 23 hours off the charger, the battery is at 41%. I plan to continue testing its longevity.
After 36 hours, I’ve been using the camera for a couple of hours today, and I’d estimate the battery life is closer to 24 hours with heavy usage. The camera system is fantastic, featuring a 200MP main camera and a 50MP ultrawide. While there’s no telephoto lens, the specs are on par with flagship cameras, surpassing anything else on a flip phone today.
Final Verdict
"This is really an uncompromising flip phone. This is fantastic, but it's not going to be easily available."
The Honor Magic V Flip 2 features a 5,500 mAh battery, the largest of any flip phone, and 80-watt charging that can fully charge the phone in just 42 minutes. It also has 50-watt reverse wireless charging. These specs top most non-folding flagship phones.
However, it’s currently only available in China. If you want something with a local warranty, you might need to wait for the global release or consider alternatives like the Razer Ultra. Overall, I’m really enjoying the Magic V Flip 2, and it might just be my favorite phone of the year.
Thank you for joining me on this two-part look at the Honor Magic V Flip 2 and its capabilities during my best friend's wedding. If you have any questions about the V2 Flip or want to see more about foldable phones, let me know in the comments below!
